The information is entirely false! Yes, Jimi Hendrix, the legend, LIVES! is fictional.
Believe it or not, altered images were used in an attempt to fake-out the visitors of this web page.
This is my friend from the UW. Look real close and you may be able to tell that the image was altered.
Copyright Compliance | The origial Jimi Hendrix image came from this site: flicker.com Permission or legal rights to use this image: Free to Share, to copy, distribute and transmit the work, to Remix, to adapt the work. I manipulated this image with MS Paint. The image of my friend is a picture of him from Facebook. I simply cropped and pasted the Facebook picture into a preexisting picture of Jimi Hendrix in MS Paint. I tried to blend the neck line and hairline by copy/ pasting samples of the image itself in an attempt to make the image more seamless. I also used a coloring tool to cover uneven edges.
Misinformation is easy to propogate. Anyone can make an altered image. If done well, it can be quite convincing. Misinformation could pose a problem to people who may get scammed by others. Anyone could be responsible for creating fake information.
The person who choses to believe or not believe is most responsible for any actions that they might take based off of false information. It is everyone's duty to make sure the information is correct by finding alternative ways to validate the information.
My friend in the picture observed the altered image and thought that it was not misleading because his face is much lighter than Jimi Hendrix. He felt it was not believable in this way. |
My cousin observed my site and did not find it believable but rather humorous. |
My experiment in deceptive web page was enlightening because I see how easy it is for anyone to put anything up on the web. Technically I had challenges manipulating the image. I was only able to copy square shape samples from the drawing tool in Paint. I needed to draw (copy/ paste) curves to do a better job. I tried to make up for that by using the draw brush in Paint but the color was off.
In summary, I would not rely on any information unless it was from a known site with a good reputation, or verified from other resources. It is too easy to publish anything as fact.
