INFO 490: Design Development Interaction Systems
Project: Major Exploration
Project Team: Angela Benintendi, David Danley, Troy Fleischauer, Ephrem Yemru
This course was a continuation of INFO 470 - Research Methods in Human-Computer Interaction.
Problem Space: This team choose to continue the work of helping students to be better informed of their academic options at the University of Washington before declaring their academic major. This Capstone group recognized the difficulty for some students to make a major life decision in picking an academic major.
The team designed a Web based interactive system. Our project was a design interface and system that leverages results from a RIASEC personality assessment by associating those results to UW’s Academic Learning Links. Academic Learning Links are a categorization system that the UW uses to group each major into a bucket of related majors. Amongst all eight bucket groups falls every academic major at the UW.
My role in this project included design ideation and development; research (interviews, surveys); and presentations to the class as well as a presentation to the UW’s iSchool.
The following are some deliverables for this Capstone Project
- Major Exploration Video Prototype
- Major Exploration Design Specification - pdf
- Major Exploration Capstone Poster - pdf
- Poster for Information Overload: 30 Second Presenation - pdf
- Visualization of Academic Learning Link 'Buckets' - pdf
